should i use canasa night before my stool test?

hi,
i am flaring bad..... so have been asked to get my stool test. this is the first time i will get stool test. i didnt understand much but i guess it is some good/bad bacteria check... now i am wondering should i use canasa night before i go for test - will will give it for testing in morning. Should i make sure that mucus or blood part of my stools is there in the specimen? or any other suggestion

I guess if it's only one test, use the Canasa the morning after you take the test. Good question.

I doubt it would matter...if they take the sample and look at it under the microscope for parasites, bacteria, blood, mucus etc they'll find them whether the canasa is there or not, unless the canasa kills certain bacteria or messes with the stool in some other way. In that case I'm sure they would tell you not to take the canasa. If you are concerned though taking if after the test probably wouldn't be a problem.
I haven't done a stool test in a long time but from what I remember you're just supposed to chop up pieces of poo and put them in the vials. If blood or mucus isn't present to the naked eye that doesn't mean isn't there microscopically.

yes i was worried what if i do not get blood and mucus the day i take specimen...thanks!

Also does probiotic changes the test result ....i was taking Align (started 2 weeks back) it killed me...so stopped day before yesterday...should i wait for couple more days till that Align bacteria is out of my body?

Shouldn't be a problem if you wait another day maybe.

How did the Align kill you? cramps?

I started Align on monday night (2+ weeks back) ...tuesday, wed & thurday were liquid blood mixed with canasa atleast twice a day....much blood than i ever had earlier. But i had read that probiotic does give negative result in beginning so i didnt give up. But Fri, Sat & Sun were really good... i could eat anything without a burpp!! (something common these days ) then came next monday and i kept bleeding for the whole next week with much blood and it seemed like my mild flare up was turning into a major one. I got scared and left Align...the very next day i was feeling better. i still can't say if i gave align enough time but i am too scared to try it any longer. The only difference i saw with align was it made my digestion really good- i could digest anything but the bacteria didnt go too well with my colon.

i have given a break of a week between the stool test and last day of Align..hope this will be enought time to clear my body of that bacteria

I'd think it was more the fact that you're flaring and not the Align.

yes quincy, maybe its the flaring but it was very scary. I still have 5 weeks Align left so maybe i will give it a try again after i m out of this loooong flare. BTW, i was not able to start rowasa the day i wrote that post ...it got delayed..starting it this weekend...will keep u posted for sure :-)
