I started with one VSL for about 2 weeks and then increased it to two packets for about 10 days. I didn't notice much of a difference, but when I went back to 1 packet for a couple of days, my UC seemed worse so I went back up to 2 a day. I've probably been taking 2 again for about a week and doing fair, about 4 stools a day.
A couple of days ago I got a box of the unflavored so now I'm taking one packet of that at night with yogurt and the other, flavored with water in the morning. If I took a packet with water in the morning I'd be in the bathroom 3 times in the night.
I also thought I'd try one at night time thinking it would stay in the colon longer and help colonize the bacteria. I haven't been doing it long enough to know if it was working.
Re: the asacol undissolved, I've notice that either the VSL or the cholestid I'm taking seems to have improved the asacol being able to be dissolved. I haven't seen nearly as many tablets as I had been before.
As usual, since I've been doing more than one thing at once, it's hard to know which is what's working, but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth.
BTW, does anyone get the packet to dissolve in cold water? I usually have to drink 16 oz of water to get almost all of it, which isn't that bad in the morning, but would never work for me at night.
