Has anyone ever tried accupuncture as a treatment for ulcerative colitis??? They say pain results from blocked energy along energy pathways of the body, which are unblocked when acupuncture needles are inserted along these invisible pathways. A scientific explanation is that acupuncture releases natural pain-relieving opioids, sends signals that calm the sympathetic nervous system, and releases neurochemicals and hormones. I work at an Occupational Helth Clinic and one of the Doctors here does it and has been treating me for the past month. I haven't seen a difference in the number of bm's or a change in the abdominal pain I have in the morning, but it does seem that the next day and for a few days after that I have more energy than usual.....Im not on ANY medication though...I feel I need to be, but I dont hve insurance and cant afford the GI dr right now...but I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and got good results out of it.
If you are interested in it and live in the southeast texas area Give Mark West a call...hes the Dr. thats been doing the accupuncture on me.
