The symptoms of colon cancer are usually very dark blood and blood that is inside the poo, not bright red blood that surrounds the poo. Diarrhea and right red blood that surrounds the poo sounds more like an IBD.
When you say you have no medical insurance limits do you mean you have no insurance? If so, I recommend getting insurance as quickly as possible. If you have an IBD, you will need the insurance first before getting diagnosed. Once you are diagnosed, you will have a pre-existing condition. A tablespoon of blood sounds like a lot, but I've had much worse. Get insurance before it is too late.
In the meantime, try natural treatments such as over-the-counter anti-inflammatories such as turmeric and boswella supplements. They can't hurt even if you only have hemmies and your colon isn't inflamed.
Figuring out how to reduce a flare or get into remission is a trial and error experience. Don't expect your GI to have all the answers. He was trained in making diagnoses, prescribing medications, and surgically removing the colon. He was not trained in alternative treatments. That's why they are called alternative treatments.
What works for me: Fecal transplantation, Probiotics, Anti-inflammatory foods, No HFCS, No crystalline fructose, No foods high in fructose, No artificial sweeteners, No pro-inflammatory foods when flaring, Vitamins, Lexapro (for stress).
