Yes, I tried his "Guts and Glory" program (restoring your digestive health) when I was first diagnosed. I still think the concept of eating primitively makes intuitive sense. And I LOVE chicken soup and the backbone of that book is Chicken Broth, so I was very excited. Sadly, I just got worse and worse and finally had to give it up when I went to the hospital.
I really wanted it to work. Soon after I was diagnosed and was feeling rotten and shell-shocked at the $800/month I had to pay for Western Meds, I went to a health-food store to hear him speak (small crowd of about
30 people). It seemed like a miracle that he would be there. I bought his book and was in tears when I went up to speak with him afterward. I wanted to thank him and ask a question. He signed my book "God bless you" and said "no discussion...thank you" I was looking for a tiny word of hope and couldn't believe a "healer" would be so cold.
That wasn't such a big deal, but I have since become not-a-fan of how he seems to profit from our fear and desperation. His products are so expensive, and now he makes weight-loss pills too. Strikes me as opportunistic. Also, his promotion of HSO's is debated in the IBD community; please do research if you want to try those. As I've learned on this forum, we all have such unique symptoms, bacterial imbalances, food allergies, medicinal reactions... I have given up the dream that there is one "right" answer for all of us.
All that being said, I do believe his amazing story and am certain that some people will benefit from what he teaches. I still have his book and refer to it (among many others such as Jini Patel Thompson, David Klein, Elaine Gottschall) when I need information.
