When my kids were young I got sick several times a year. Likewise, young parents say they get sick a lot more because kids pass germs between each other so easily; they breathe, slober, cough and sneeze all over each other and you. I believe you're going to catch whatever the person your grappling with has.
I make it clear to people I know that I take these drugs. I am direct with sick people to stay away from me and I wash my hands frequently, noting when I touch public surfaces. I've managed not to get sick that much since starting azathioprine and imuran. When I last got sick though, it hit me hard.
Good luck to you, you do have to enjoy life so there is no easy answer.
