I've read about it a little. I saw one study where it reduced colitis symptoms by 61%, but I'm doing OK right now so I've just filed it away for my inevitable next flare whenever that happens. I've read it's much more potent if taken alongside spirulina.

For some reason the pills must be really small. One supplement had 1,500 pills per bottle and the daily dosage was 15 pills!

Where do you get that stuff?
Ulcerative Proctitis since Sept of 1998. Hospitalized for eight days.  Prednisone, Asacol, Rowasa enemas.  Two year remission. Flare..switched from Asacol to Colazal.  Two year remission.  Started 6MP in 2002.  Flared yearly from 2003 to May of 08.  Hospitalized for ten days in May of 08.  Flaring more often since.  Off 6MP. Remicade failed.  Humira failed.   Meds: Colazal, prednisone, Cort & canasa suppositories, Benicar (Blood pressure).  Surgery scheduled for June 28th...maybe sooner if possible.  Still flaring

Christine, you can get it anywhere, VitaCost, Amazon, etc. I think it comes in pill or powder.

Blksteeda, if you try this and/or spirulina let us know how it goes, I would be very interested in hearing your results.

I drink a supplement that includes Chlorella and I think it is doing me good. Specifically, I am drinking "Green Superfood" by Amazing Grass (from local health food store). It is a yummy chocolate flavored powder (also has Spirulina, Spinach, flax seed powder, acidopholis, and other organic stuff in it)- I mix it with almond milk and a little l-glutamine powder and a touch of chocolate just to make it sweeter. Makes a nice evening dessert drink while my husband eats ice-cream!
taking 6 AsacolHD/day
take Rowasa enema as needed
Mega-dosing on iron due to anemia
Eating high Omega-3 foods daily

Have tried dozens of alternate remedies:
glutamine, sunflower/spinach, omega3, Ayurveda, reflexology, herbal prescriptions, blood allergy testing (avoiding dairy and eggwhites), tried no nightshades, tried SCD (not very strict to be honest), tried Guts to Glory program, briefly tried David Klein diet, mega-probiotics, probiotic enemas, slippery elm enemas, etc. etc.

I know that the right combination for what my tender tummy needs is out there!
