Keep your head up.
This is just one of those things we're forced to deal with.
I got thinking one day - 2 years ago this summer, right before I was diagnosed....I went on a back-country canoe trip.
Right before that, I had started to flare, but at the time, wasn't worried as I didn't know what it was.
So, off I went, thinking "wow, whatever I ate is really kicking the sh!t out of me" We went 2 portages into the bush and a secluded lake in Northern Ontario. No washrooms. You had to go back into the bush and dig a hole, then bury it back in. I had to dig so many holes for my watery mess, my friends were beginning to tease me a bit. I started digging them ahead of time.
The point of this is, the next summer, I didn't go on the trip. I had colitis, and didn't want to get stuck somewhere not feeling well.
Well funny thing is, the year before, I was in a flare up, pooping water, but just didn't know it was colitis and didn't even hesitate to go.
So for me, how come I went when I felt the same, but once I had a label, I didn't go?
I'm not suggesting running into the bush and doing whatever, I'm even a bit more careful now, and also there are going to be days you just want to rest. But take each day as they come, go with the flow and try to enjoy the life you were given.
You only have a limited time here...don't look back in 20 years and say "what if".
I know too that some people are way worse than others...and believe me, I've had my bad days too. We need our time outs. But try not to let it control you and don't give up. Keep seeking help until it's under control...one way or another. It's your life...don't let UC take it from you.
Wow..that was long haha.
