I think I am the one who said I am not traditional. My guy can wear a big fluffy dress if he likes, that would be interesting but I don't think he would fill it out too well
Everyone makes such a big deal about the ring but I feel like it's for the wrong reasons. It's nice that he is going to have something made for you, very thoughtful and it will be unique. It's not about the ring, it's more about the effort that was put in to get you something that you will love and cherish forever. I know my fiancee set a goal of getting me a special ring and he accomplished it and that makes me feel like he is committed. I knew he was committed before but it definitely solidified things. It's easy to talk but it's not so easy to save a substantial amount of money and spend it on someone else.
Do what you want to do and don't worry too much about what's expected of you. Whether you want to do something small and inexpensive or large/lavish, people should respect that. It's all about you and your fiance and what you want. It's your day. Everyone was pushing obligations on me - I don't know if I will do anything. I'd rather have money towards a downpayment on a home than a wedding.
