Thanks for answering. I was on the Rowasa for about
4 months straight. (along w/ Lialda) I had great improvement and was excellent for a few weeks so that is what inspired me to try to taper a bit (also Dr. advised taper) Anyway since taper attempt..and seriously, I only skipped like one Rowasa, I started having a little blood. Went right back on the Rowasa nightly but still seem to be mildly flaring. Prior to the combo...I was on Lialda alone (which wasn't great considering inflammation is so low)
I do have diagnosis of UC (had colonoscopyin Jan -but suprisingly that came out all clear even the biopsies) I was using steroid supps alone prior to that since I had a mild proctitis diagnosis last June.(sigmoidoscopy) Based on that, I was shocked when everything came back all clear on colonoscopy. When I kept bleeding Dr. did another sig. in March and saw typical UC pattern in rectum/lower sigmoid. So that is my diagnosis story. Also don't know how accurate but did blood panel which also came back consistent w/ UC. Also symptoms are really blood/some mucus generally not D-formed stools and not really too crampy. (grateful for this)
I am taking 1/2 pack VSL per day. I am trying to build up more, but when I take too much too soon, I have problems so I need to go slow. I also take Metamucil and lately have been upping that a bit.
Interesting theory about
2g vs 4g enema. I wonder if I should try just doing 1/2 of an enema. I also like your idea of enema one night/steroid supp when taper comes again. I fear that the Rowasa (which was working for me so well for a short while) is not working as well. I guess it could also have just been a flair waiting to happen. I used one steroid supp today around noon and will use them w/ Rowasa at night until hopefully in full remission (please!)
I want to find that magic formula that you always talk about
to control a flair early. I thought I had it w/ the Lialda/Rowasa combo. I don't know what happened.
By the way how is your cat doing?
2 Lialda/day Rowasa nightly
