There are a few helpful hints to help absorb iron pill. Most will recommend taking it with Vitamin C. So when I take Iron I take it with orange juice or with some type of high vit. C juice. Also avoid taking Iron with milk or dairy since it can inhibit the uptake. Most will recommend taking it inbetween meals for maximum absorption but some people claims it upsets their stomach when taking it on an empty stomach so you might wind up taking it with a small snack. The most important thing is to give it time. It can take months to get your Hg up and your iron stores up as well. Once you are no longer anemic you should take iron supplements for 6-12 months after to make sure your body has enough stored for future issues.
Hope this helps.
