It is normal to experience some extra gas when starting any probiotic. If it lasts a week you should consider switching to a different one. Some people do better on one than another. I like VSL#3 and had no gas at all to start, drinking it mixed with water, later switched to making yogurt with it and get my VSL that way instead of liquid, same stuff different delivery system.
When I was flaring it was hard to start anything new or notice any improvement. The pred and enemas will be your best friends with that.

Rx: (6) balsalazide daily, mesalamine enema occasionally
