Curcumin Extract - Not Turmeric
I took curcumin capsules (Jarrow & NOW brands) for a year - 500mg BID. There was no change in symptoms after starting and stopped use. I've had persistent refractory proctitis since diagnosis in 2006. Most of the OTCs I've tried have had NO noticeable impact on symptoms. I want maximum 'bang' for my every buck; If it's not helping - why waste my money and all that time swallowing Rxs & OCTs if it's not reducing, controlling or preventing symptoms.
There is a growing body of research of curcumin documenting evidence of its benefits in prevention, risk reduction, and symptom treatments in a multitude of conditions and disease states, including UC. It is only due to tight finances that I am not taking it now. Local retailers mark up the product price too high for long-term daily use. So I've purchased from two online retailers with discounted prices without sacrificing quality assurance; VitaCost.com and organicpharmacy.org
Below are three excellent information resource links to help you be more informed about
using curcumin as an antinflammatory for UC.
