Well at least you are still in the land of the living and can joke about
I am at the 10 year mark and I guess I have the 20 year mark ahead of me :-/
That's something I haven't done much...look ahead. I've been busy handling UC one day at a time.
I don't know about
you but I feel more in control today than when I started with this disease. I was in denial for a long time, had a business to run, family to look after, other health problems (since resolved) and just didn't have the time or will to face this thing head on. I just accepted the meds my most current GI said to take and lived miserably for years. Yes I complained to various doctors about
my poor quality of life but they offered absolutely no solutions. I got my 20-30 minutes with them, an Rx and the next appointment scheduled on their calendar.
What will the next 10 or 20 years bring?
I sincerely hope for myself and everyone else with UC that there will be some advances in treatment that are less toxic. Two Australian scientists got a 2005 Nobel Prize for discovering that ulcers were caused by a bacteria. Why oh why can't someone do the same for UC. So much similarity and yet no answers...yet.
In remission April 2010 after 10 years of UC with no remission ever
