64 yr old male --suffered with UC & in May 06 had a severe flare & hospitalized 6 days...various prednisone treatments leading to steroid dependence and osteopenia, 12 asacol, 200 mg Imuran, failed remicade infusions Jan-May 2010 Dependence on pain meds. Made decision in 6/10 to have surgery which was on 12/17/10 (permanent ileostomy - unable to have the j-pouch) and no longer in pain.

Happy? Naw but at least I am still alive and kicking. Sometimes life wants to throw you don't and stomp the crap out of you, but we just have to dust ourselves off and try to enjoy what life has to offer. Things could always be worse so we have to live in the NOW and try not to think of the future. To me, this upcoming 20 year anniversary proves to me that I am still ALIVE and it definitely has made me stronger as well as more sympathetic and patient to others. I have a wry sense of humor that sees me thru many things and without humor, we would all be sitting in the corner, huddled over and not wanting to participate in life.

Smile at life and it will smile back at you~

Okay, that is my inspirational soap box ravings for the day. Time to go and find a hall that is big enough for at least a 100 porta-potties ;)

-currently in remission! diagnosed 2003 u/p, diagnosed w/u/c 2007 after moved up .25cms
-Take daily- vite D 2800iu's, omega 3 2000 mgs, calcium mag 800 iu's, home-made meal replacement
juice daily (plain yogurt,olive oil,psyllium husk,spinach,carrots,berries,water) Asacol 2000 mgs.

Asacol, 4 tabs, 3xday; Rowasa once or twice weekly; multivitamin; Ortho Tri-Cyclen

Yay! I will totally be at this party! Is it kid friendly? LOL
Party favors could include days of the week pill boxes.
DX June 2003
Went into immediate remission with oral salofalk (9 pills/day)
Stayed in remission until I began to mildly flare during my pregnancy (Feb. 2009)
My son is now 14 months old and still not back to 100%
CURRENT MEDS:
9 Salofalk each day (5 ASA)
1g salofalk supp. at night everyother night
1 Ultimate Flora Crit. Care probiotic at night
