Yes, I have this also. You can definitely have back wash ilietis from having pancolitis or ulcerative colitis in the ascending colon. This just means your colits is out of check. I had this also a few years back when I had really bad ulcerative colitis. I had pancolitis or universal colitis. My pathology report also stated backwash ilietis where the small intestine and large intestine join. No worries, once you get your colitis under control this will resolve. I wouldn't rush to surgery if I were you. Once I got on the Imuran my pan colitis went away and a normal colon appeared. No question of Chron's ever with me. That's after 8-10 colonoscopies. Bottom line, get your colitis under control.

Dx: Ulcerative Colitis 1996 via colonscopy and biopsy. Pancolitis with chronic and moderate inflammation.
Started UC around 92.
Past Meds: Asacol and occasionally Prednisone
Have had 6 colonscopies throughout my hx with UC.
Current Meds: Imuran, started with 200 mg and recently lowered it to 150 mg
Most recent colonscopy 2009 after 6 months of Imuran, colon is 90% healed
Currently in remission
