My personal report on the prep & tips that I thought helped me.
I started decreasing food intake a couple of days before prep day & tried to eat “clean.”
I bought an electrolyte powder called Ultima Replenisher in the lemonade flavor (naturally flavored), which you mix with water. This product doesn’t have all the sugar & such in it like Gatorade does. I probably consumed around 82 oz. over the course of 14 hours on prep day. I feel this, along with the sea salt was one of the biggest keys for keeping dehydration & nausea at bay.
I drank warm, chicken bone broth with a pinch of Real brand sea salt & some Vital Protein Collagen powder mixed in-3 times (8 oz each time) over the course of the day/evening), along with an Italian ice & one or two 1.5 oz. lime popsicles (made with real fruit juice & no high fructose corn syrup).
You have to drink 32 oz of clear liquid within an hour of taking EACH SuPrep bottle. I fulfilled that with either the water/electrolyte powder mix or just water by itself. I also drank “Eternal” brand & regular spring water by itself throughout the day. Needless to say, I was liquid full, but helped with hunger & I believe when it came time to the actual procedure.
I did put my bottles of prep in the fridge, along with having gallon water jugs in the fridge so all my liquids except the warm broth would be cold.
I had the SuPrep mixed with water (total of 16 oz) ready in the fridge.
The first round went better than the second. Both times, I held my nose tightly & tried to guzzle it down as fast as I could (within 2-4 minutes for the first round & more like 7-10 minutes for the second). I even kept my nose plugged for a bit after I was done.
The taste for me was a strong, artificial cherry & I had to continue to spit to try to get the taste out.
I did have some chills & stomach upset pretty shortly after the first bottle.
I didn’t know what to expect after the first bottle & was envisioning something different. It was like a liquid poo fest. Felt like I was peeing buckets out my anus (sorry if that is tmi, but we are talking about
colonoscopy here. Lol). It hit me about
an hour and a half after the first bottle & I was in the bathroom every 10-15 minutes initially, then more time in between after the first hour and a half. I slept (not soundly) a total of about
an hour or two in between prep bottles.
*Thank you FlowersGal for the advice to use wet wipes right from the beginning. I used Burts Bees brand, baby aloe/vitamin e wipes (non flushable) from the get go & I had no issues with a raw bum! Dab, don’t wipe!
I took my 2nd prep around 3:30 am & left about
2 ounces, as I knew I was close to “clean” & feeling pretty nauseous by then. I then soaked in a warm (not hot), epsom salt bath (*thanks FlowersGal for that suggestion) for about
15 min. before the 2nd poo fest. I was pretty bloated, full feeling & nauseated after the 2nd round.
I had a 7:15am arrival time for colonoscopy at 8am.
I remember nothing from the procedure or recovery & barely anything from the car ride to climbing in bed at home (fentanyl/versed).
Now awaiting results. 🙏🏼
