My daughter is now 10 1/2 and after she was diagnosed the ASA's did not work for her either.
She was also reliant on steroids- as we weaned Predniosne she started 6-MP and was able to get off
steroids all together.
She has now been on 6-MP since April 2010 and thankfully has done really well. She gets to be a kid
and really has no limitations. She eats mostly what she wants- although I do keep her off milk- she
does eat cheese and we are just careful about certain foods.
I was very worried about putting her on the 6-MP and still don't love it but she is healthy
and did not miss one day of school last year due to her UC.
I would personally try 6-Mp before Remicade.
I know it is a tough descsion but I know that you must want her off Pred. asap as we know it
is not good for anyone long term.
Good luck and let us know what you decide or if you have more questions.
