First, that sucks that you've tried so many things and nothing really helps. :( Boo.
As for other mesalamine drugs, do you ever see whole Asacol pills in your poop? Part of the reason I switched from Asacol to Apriso is that I was seeing Asacol in my poop and could tell it still had the medicine inside (I could see the white stuff leaking out). So I figured it was stupid to take a med that wasn't fully dissolving, and started researching the other options. I found that Apriso starts dissolving at a lower gut pH than Asacol, and that UCers are thought to have a lower gut pH than "normal" people. Plus, I really wanted to take a once-daily med.
Have you thought at all about
fecal transplantation or helminth therapy? I'm just trying to think outside of the "normal" options here.

Meds: Apriso (4 0.375g pills ONCE!! daily), mesalamine enema twice weekly, Natural Factors Ultimate probiotic 12/12 Formula, multivitamin. Used prednisone (starting dose 40 mg) to get into remission.
