I do think maybe few more people have heard of Crohn's. Personally, I am VERY GLAD that I don't have Crohn's. No, I'm not "glad" that I have UC, but if I had to pick one, I'd absolutely pick UC, and I'm sure all other people would as well. I don't think anyone has been less sympathetic, though. I still have a chronic disease and it still sucks. Sure, symptoms can be absolutely horrid with UC, and there are people with Crohn's who don't have much trouble managine it, but Crohn's is a much more serious disease, since it can affect the entire GI system and involves all the layers, whereas UC doesn't. People with Crohn's have to deal with strictures, fistulas, etc that UCers don't. And Crohn's causes death much more often than UC does. I take great comfort in the fact that if it gets bad enough, I can have surgery, be done with it, and go on to live a normal life. People with Crohn's just don't have that option.
