I'm the one who always advocates for not telling anyone!
My employer and co-workers knew when I was first diagnosed in the 1980s and I think it affected my ability to succeed in that job. Never again!
I never have to deal with any of that noise now. I have learned lots of plausible excuses for doing thing my way (driving myself, for example) and really find nobody notices or cares how often I use the restroom. I do preemptive restroom visits religiously (e.g., before meetings), even now.
I don't tell my friends either, because it's not a dignified disease and I would rather not have anyone imagining what my bathroom experiences must be like. I prefer that my friends and work colleagues think of me as a healthy, strong person (and they do) even though I have been quite sickly.
Lots of years experience here and it works for me.
