A few years ago I finally went to a GI doctor to figure out my stomach issues. I figured I had IBS and thats what they said. We also tested for celiac, which I was negative. Slowly I cut out caffine, alcohol, excess sugar and such which helped. I still eat normal though and not just a stripped down diet. Even at times my diet has too much fat content. The thing is it seems as if I am feeling worse and worse all the time. In 2 years I have lost 35 pounds and it is still slipping. I feel fatigue a lot. I produce acid like a madman. I can get crazy stomach flares with long hours in the bathrooms from time to time, but overall my stomach has a constant discomfort all the time. My stool does conatin mucus and I suspect blood at times even though it is not clearly evident. I have heard of people not losing weight with IBS and only losing a bunch because they go on an almost malnorished diet, but my diet should almost make me gain weight. Plus I have been working out a ton for some months now and I have hit a wall in a sense and can't gain any mass, I feel the same reason I can't gain weight. I am definitly thinking it is time to get a colonoscopy and get a full diagnosis. Just wondering if you guys think it is UC. The weight loss, fatigue, and random appitite loss are red flags in my book.

Hi Chaosfourever
Welcome to the forum.
It could be but you really need to get that scope to know for sure. Sounds like with the issues you've been having its worth getting it checked out.
Lots of people get differing symptons but urgency and multiple trips to the bathroom feature with varying degrees of discomfort and for some pain as well.
I would go see a GI and get things checked out.
Good luck

I was power lifting in the gym pretty tough when I was diagnosed in 2008, I was taking a lot of workout sups as well. Weird because it all started when I started taking creatine an all that workout junk. I always wondered if the sups triggered my UC. Get that colonoscopy, do you go to the bathroom right after you eat a meal? I know people with IBS & most of them go right after eating. Wish I had IBS instead of IBD lol.

I don't take any sups for working out. Only soy protein from time to time. I go to the bathroom sometimes after meals, and sometimes not. I am gonna def get the scope, but like I mentioned my main concerns are the fatigue and weight loss that I have, even though I shouldn't be losing that much weight when I didn't change anything major with food or lifestyle. I definitly have IBS symptoms, but I feel I may UC with it. I don't believe it is Crohn's but I will get the scope to make sure.

fist get a scope. until then do not stress yourself for nothing.

IBS or UC stress is a major handicap in managing your condition. there's no point to contribuite to it yourself.

loosing wheight is problematic indeed - if you are underwheight. if not...

I agree, you will just keep going around in circles with the what if's until you have the scope. That is the only sure way to know what's going on. Perhaps with working out so often that is the cause of your weight loss? An increased metabolism?

If you do have Uc (which I REALLY hope you don't have), you are more than welcome to come back anytime you wish. If it's IBS, we also have a forum for that as well.
