Beatuc always posts the same article and the same findings, its great to see that there are possible complications, but some more recent data would be better.
As for some of the problems with jpouches, incontinence and dehydration are both things people with active uc suffer from. I was in the hosptial 5 times for dehydration with uc, twice with my ileo, once because I had a stomach virus and went on to the er before I got dehydrated. Its very easy to stay hydrated. I read a lot of people having accidents all the time, jpouch leaks are more common at first, but from what I understand they go away, as the pouch learns its new job.
Hey storm, no I don't always post the same findings. What you don't seem to understand is that I along with anyone else who has UC might be facing this surgery someday!
I am trying to get the real truth about
surgery and what I see posted here is always different than what I see when I do some research.
Also, jpouch FAILURE rate is 5-7 %, thats complete failure, the rate of problems and complications is more like 60-75%.
Every study I find out there, the pro surgery folks just tear apart with technicalities.
We want the truth, no sugar coated garbage. Having UC sucks and I appreciate what you people who have had surgery have gone through.
This is not an "us vs them" thing, I want to get to the real truth about
surgery and it seems like we are talking about
politics the way everyone gets so polarized about
Lets calm down and see if we can get some real stats posted here -OK?
