GasX seems to help me, although I have IBS and usually (when not in a UC flare) almost all my symptoms come from the IBS over the UC.
My GI actually told me the use a liquid form of GasX - or what its made of - after the colonoscopy to disolve some of the air they put in the colon. So I assume that means it works for getting rid of gas in the colon? It doesn't help me all of the time though, just depends what I ate and how early I catch the gas issues. My GI did say you can take more than 3 of them a day and if its really bad taking two at a time definitely seems to help me more.
Not sure if I agree about gas being a sign of inflamation, mostly because I've had horrible gas problems even when my colonoscopies showed no signs of disease at all (to the point of looking like a 'normal' colon). Like I said, I have IBS though so mine could come from that.
I also take mesalamine enemas and those definitely cause gas!
UC - diagnosed 1994, in remission for 10 years, currently in a flare
Meds: Colazal 3 pills/3x day, 1 mesalamine enema nightly.
