Rectal Drainage? Yes - I have the same.
The frequency varies; every time I pee, when passing gas (wet gas), when squatting down (gardening, yoga), and sometimes it just slips out unannounced and without any pelvic pressure. Sometimes it just feels like it happened - the feeling of being wet. So, never knowing when it will happen, I wear pads when away from home and always carry wet-wipes. High maintenance!
Color, content, consistency, volume, etc., all vary as well. Clear, fleshy, blood & poop tinged, ... Thin watery warnings to large volumes of congealed globs of inflammatory discharge.
Since UC always includes the rectum - we all experience this at some point to some degree. With aging (I'm now 51), the anal sphincter muscles lose strength, giving continence (& kegels) a wake up.
Rectal drainage has been the most difficult to acknowledge, the most humiliating to experience while out in the world functioning, and almost impossible to discuss with providers (or anyone else who hasn't experienced it). It's gross. The silver lining ... wait for it ... It made it easy to talk about my pooper & bleeding, frequency & urgency.
The Pooper had never been a comfortable topic to share with anyone. Then arrived UC with mild chronic continuous symptoms & frequent flares. So now, if someone asks - it is easy to talk about my pooper, a psychic breakthrough. But, outside of this UC forum - I don't talk about the other gross stuff that comes out.
So, thank you for asking & creating the opportunity to share on what otherwise is kept 100% private.
Ciao, Denny Rae
