bambinou, I love your post.
The difference I see in my blood when I eat an alkaline diet opposed to a paleo diet is INSANE. (I look at my blood through a microscope a few times a week). Paleo was a very easy "diet" for me and it really helped the transition from eating out/out of a box. But man, the havoc it created in my blood acidity was crazy. Pathogens favor acidic blood.
The problem with the alkaline diet is that it is so friggin hard to maintain for me. I have to eat so.many.fresh.vegetables to get the calories I need. Im lucky and I have the luxury to work part time. Anyone with children and a full time job, and a chronic disease would have a hell of a time on this diet. Or a limited budget.
I do believe it works on a multitude of levels. It helps compensate for genetic polymorphisms, it helps make your body terrain inhospitable to sugar loving and acid loving microbes... it flushes your lymphatics.. it clears calcium from your blood... your kidneys...
I just did some chelation that knocked me on my ass a bit, but as soon as Im recovered some and can devote serious time to procurement and preparation of food, then this is what Im focusing on.
I think that doctors should be able to prescribe medical food. Where the doc literally rxs a food plan for you and a couple times a week you pick a couple days of it up. I think people are so overstressed and overworked it is almost impossible to eat in a way that provides a body with the things it needs to heal and restricts the things that feed pathogenesis.
