So I've been doing really well the past 2-3 weeks on my Imuran, tapering the Prednisone by 5mg a week. I finally got down to 10mg a week ago and my symptoms started coming back. So frustrating! I thought I was coming out of the flare-up this time, my BMs were completely normal for weeks now until the past 3-4 days. So now I have to go back up to 30mg for just today, then to 20mg for 3 days, then to 15mg and stay there till I have my 2nd blood test done next week for the Imuran. If that comes back normal then my doc said I can get a test to measure the amount of Imuran in my body to make sure its at the therapeutic level - has anybody had this done?
I'd have to drive down to Mayo for it though since its a 'fancy' test as he calls it and my primary care doc up here can't do it. I'd be willing to drive down there as long as it helps, although I'd admit I'm not to jazzed about taking more than the 125mg of Imuran I'm on now.
He said the weight calculation to determine your dose isn't always 100% accurate for everybody. I've gained a little weight on the Prednisone although not much, and I was hoping it would go away when I was finally off of it! Feel like I'm never getting off Prednisone at this point though, and I've never been on it this long in the past 17 or so years :(
