Anyone here with uc get anything in their mouth at all, maybe once in awhile like a non IBD person might? Also any teeth issues. My enamel isn,t holding up,too well in places and fell like I occasionally might get tiny, non painful spots in mouth that go away quickly. Always thought I bit myself in sleep, but have new redness inside lower lip. As always worried about crohns since I am considering surgery

Are you on any meds? When I am on prednisone, I sometimes get small white patches on the inside of my lower lip that look like thrush or like I chewed my lip. I have a bottle of Gentin Violet that I used when my son was a baby and had thrush. I will sparingly paint it on my lower lip before bed. You have to be very careful when applying it because once it is on it stains you for a day or so! The first time I did it I went to work the next day with purple tinted lips and teeth! Least it took care of the spots.

Also, since UC, I only use toothpaste for sensitive teeth. My teeth hurt horribly when I first flared because of all of the throwing up I was doing.
DX: May 2011
Current meds: Imuran 75mg
Slippery Elm- 1 tsp 2 times daily
Never had rectal meds...was told no good for my problem.
And this too shall pass!

When I was a kid (MANY years ago, since I am now almost 66), I suffered with mouth ulcers very often.  I remember putting something called Alum on them.  Back then I never heard of IBD.  At age 39, I was finally diagnosed with IBS.  It was not until age 52, when I developed HORRIBLE symptoms, bleeding, urgency, pain, etc., that I was diagnosed with UP.  I had a total colectomy with end ileo in 2010 and STILL get those mouth ulcers.  However, not as often as in the past.  Gargle with salt water 4 times daily.  Works for me.
