Q - thanks for your support.
My Dr. did the blood work to see if I could go on Imuran, in case things don't get better with what I'm doing now. If things are going well, then I'll stay on 5ASA. I'm hoping to stay on 5ASA as it's more mild...
I was initially really constipated from taking tylenol #3 for the pain, but I've tried to cut back so I wouldn't be as constipated. The result was diarrhea - I definitely will not take a laxative, I think that would be very very painful for me! I'm still taking T3s about twice a day, which is less than before (4x) for the pain/cramps.
I tried to eat actual food yesterday and today, however anytime I eat something solid it sends me running to the bathroom :( I've been eating homemade chicken soup (thank you mom!) and tried some apple sauce today which didn't seem to aggravate my stomach. I then ate some dry cereal and toast, and unfortunately that sent me running to the bathroom while I was in mid-bite. Ugh.
So....I'm hoping that my new "regime" is working and that I'll continue to improve (held in an enema last night again and cortifoam this morning). I really want to be able to eat solids though. I've lost quite a bit of weight and don't want to lose too much more...
- 4g salofalk (5-ASA) enema at night
- Cortifoam during the day
- 4g salofalk oral tablets during the day
If things start to get better then I'll slowly drop things and get back to 3g of oral salofalk/day.
I've had a few flares since I was diagnosed 2 years ago...but have so much to learn. I still feel so new to this disease. This forum has helped so much!
