Hello,
My husband has stopped his remicade infusions after a severe joint pain bout that has lasted over a month. The GI dr said it is not the remicade. The regular dr had him try prednisone and his pain went away. After 7 days of prednisone and then stopping now his joint pain is back and the regular dr. is saying he has developed poly arthritis from UC, but we think it is the remicade just slowly working its way out of his system. Anyone have any thoughts??

Thanks,
Michelle

Remicade has greatly decreased my joint pain as well as my UC. How long has your husband been on Remicade? I know I was on pred for a long time just to help with my joint pain. I honestly don't think the Remicade is the culprit, it may give him joint pain for a bit, but from what I've read and heard it usually goes away with time.
Starting Remicade March 5th 2012
Multi Vitamins

Been on: Asacol, Sulfasalazine, Prednisone, Imuran

He NEVER had joint issues before Remicade. He has UC for 14 years. He was on Remi for 6 months then started developing joint pains, so severe that he ended up in the ER. He talked to the secretary at the GI office yesterday and the secretary recently talked to the Remicade rep and the rep said it is very rare, but severe joint pain is a reaction to the Remi and it will take a few months to get out of his system. So we will see. His reg dr put him on prednisone which helps with the pain. So after another month with taking the prednisone we will see where the pain is and if he needs to see a Rhematologist.

Thanks for getting back to me.
