Yes probiotics are very important, actually regardless of whether you have IBD or not. Good intestinal flora can minimize exposure to all kinds of virus affecting your system.
When choosing a probiotic, it's important it has:
1) lots of different strains
2) quantity - in the BILLIONS would be an impt criteria
Many use VSL #3, which BTW if you can get your doc to write you script for VSL #3DS - it might be covered by a small copay. But VSL #3 is expensive. There are other alternatives too.
Whatever you decide on, you might want to add in addition: S. Boulaardi (I got mine through Amazon online).
