MNbeachgal: excellent advice from Thoreau.
Now as far as trying to avoid a flareup and taking care of yourself:
get lots of rest. never underestimate the power of sleep to restore the body and reduce inflammation
eat lightly, all the foods you know are safe or easy to digest, for me that might be scrambled eggs, chicken noodle soup etc.
pamper yourself, take a nice hot bath, listen to some music, read a good book, make yourself some herbel tea.
distraction: rent a funny movie, maybe your favorite one that you havent seen in a while. even better if its your favorite movie and your ex never liked it. spend some time laughing. you will feel better. i promise.
