I got this disease when I was 16 so I feel your pain. I am now 49 and have been healthy for at least 10 years with no problems. I do believe that diet has a lot to do with this disease as well as stress. You definitely need to eat a lot of fiber-but only whole grains-no white anything. A raw diet is probably not the answer. Digesting raw veggies is very hard on the colon. I am a believer of everything is good in moderation. Make sure that you eat plenty of grains, nuts, fruit and veggies, and protein like fish and chicken. Red Meat is also hard to digest-I don't eat meat.Stay away from junk foods like potato chips or things that have trans fat in them. But most importantly, try to stay out of stressful situations for long periods of time since I believe this will bring on a flare up. Exercise at least 4 times a week --a great stress reliever. Yes, you will have this disease all your life, but I believe that if you eat well and excercise you can minimize your problems with it.
