My typical diet is as follows:
3 eggs fried in olive oil or good coconut oil
2 slices of whole wheat toast (today, grilled in a little coconut oil to avoid butter)
a little sea salt and black pepper
meat (grilled chicken, burger patty, etc. -- from home because additives are too much of a gamble)
cooked vegetable (no seeds, low to moderate amount of fiber, no legumes)
maybe a slice or two of whole wheat bread if having a sandwich
a little Hellman's mayo and/or French's yellow mustard (tolerate both with no trouble)
Hard-boiled egg (1-2)
Maybe a handful of potato chips, salted
Side of something like potato or whole-wheat pasta
Maybe a little dessert, depending on how I'm feeling. Probably every other day.
In between, I have a cup of chamomile (1-2 a day), plenty of good water (filtered or good quality spring water)
As for the DGL, it's nick-named "the lining tamer" because it soothes and protects the mucosa from mouth all the way through the tract. Recommended to chew two tablets 15 minutes prior to a meal. I use the original flavor from Enzymatic Therapy. I had used Natural Factors at one point but try to avoid dextrose (HFCS) as much as possible and their brand didn't seem to help as much.
I did have great success with L-Glutamine (500mg 3x a day) but it always had the side effect of causing me to feel some hypoglycemic effects which could be really disconcerting. Dr. Snow assured me this will clear up for me as my mucosa heals because it's misfunctioning. The IntestiNew (and other brands) combine the amino with other ingredients to improve the healing process. Dr. Snow claims that L-Glutamine alone only helps to a certain extent. The new version that I will be using includes many other things such as chamomile, DGL, etc. It should arrive tomorrow. I'm hopeful it will help.
Keep me posted with your progress. I hope you're flare-free soon.
