I don't think UC is something that normally just pops up in your 20s.
There are two peak times in life when statistically most cases of UC pop up, the first is between 15 and 25 and the second is between 50 and 60. Obviously we have people here who were diagnosed at every age but 15-25 actually is the most common.
dx'ed UC pancolitis 5/12 w/ moderate-severe inflammation; scope 9/12 shows pancolitis with mild inflammation; scope 11/12 shows moderate inflammation
past meds: asacol hd, VSL#3, apriso, rowasa, xifaxan, 6mp, cortifoam, pentasa, cimzia, canasa, butyrate
current meds: flagyl, cipro, prednisone, remicade, methotrexate, cholestyramine, cortenema
supplements: folic acid, vitamin d, potassium
