Like I have been saying all along, but even started to increase in the 1920's,basically pre antibiotic/hormones/pesticides. What could be going on,whatever it is it hit developed countries before less developed.
I find interesting the guy had a bad infected tooth pulled then developed UC. I am currently looking at the S.Mutans mouth bacteria connection.
Hey Mike. I know this is an older thread. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I have something intriguing about
mouth bacteria in general. I'm 29 years old, and for the first 27+ years of my life I had maybe one or two cavities total. I ended up changing dentists, so this could be a variable that cancels anything out, but within one year of being on Remicade (started Jan 2012) I was found to have 8+ cavities. I have extremely good oral hygiene. It was baffling to me, but I wondered if possibly the Remicade was holding my body back from regulating some bacteria in my mouth. Then I went back this year and was told I had another 5+ cavities. It left me stumped really, but something in me wondered about
the correlation with being on Remi.
Just a random thought.
EDIT: Also, after starting Remicade my tonsils began to swell up. Within 9 months of being on Remicade one of my tonsils was quite swollen, and occasionally had white spots (ENT said it was bacteria). I then had them taken out due to the swelling. It was just curious all of this that happened in my mouth after really hacking my immune system down with Remi. Possibly correlated, though it's obviously impossible to prove completely.

Dx 2003. Left sided UC that kept going futher, to halfway through colon.
Tried: 5-asa's, 6mp, Imuran (Plus all the other momentary treatments)
Remicade started 1/27/2012
In Remission **with severe body pains, likely from Remicade (started 7/2012)
