In case anyone was wondering.... (pretty much a repeat of what I posted in the Ostomies forum, if you happened to read there too)
GEEZ! I need to edit this post briefly to add that so far, I feel SO much better than I did with UC and I noticed that immediately upon waking up....it is amazing! (edit over)
Just wanted to stop in and let you know that my surgery went well and I am now on the road to recovery. It was quite the long day, due to a delay in the OR with the surgery before mine. At some point I can write out the whole saga if anyone in interested!
Long story short...surgery ended up starting about
4 hours later than planned, and I didn't get to my room until 1AM that night (technically the next morning)! Once settled in, I pretty much got little catnaps between people coming in and machines buzzing. I was up and sitting in a chair by 9AM and went for my first of 3 walks for the day around 9:30 AM and spent a lot of time sitting in the chair.
I was finally given the OK for clear liquids late in the afternoon...yippie! I have a button to push when I want pain meds, and have been getting less hesitant to use it. The pain hasn't been awful, but has been getting worse as the night goes on....so we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Right now, the biggest problem is, I really haven't slept. I'm on a high dose of IV steroids, so I'm guess that is the biggest problem. They seem to be causing high energy, insomnia, and maybe anxiety and bad dreams even? I'm go to talk to a doctor tomorrow before deciding take something, whether it be sleep aid or anxiety med. I've never taken anything like that, hate to add more drugs, but I just might have to so I can get SOME rest.
Anyway...I guess that wasn't a very short update, but I do have nothing but time here and got carried away! Thanks again SO much for all of the positive thoughts and well wishes, and I will keep everyone posted until you get tired of my ramblings, and feel free to ask any questions if you have them.
