Hello. I just finished a round of antibiotics on Monday for non-UC infection and within days got very ill. Found out a couple of hours ago I have c diff, and have been started on vancimycin. For those of you who have been in this situation, I'm just wondering how long it took for you to start feeling better on vancimycin? I haven't felt this sick in years and need to hear that I will feel better soon. Thanks for any encouragement.

Hi there UCinNC. Amazing that I haven't been on this site either for a few years and I just logged back in yesterday same as you!!! Chances of that? I'm really sorry to hear you are sick but I'm sure you'll be on the mend soon. Flaring myself for first time in 3 years. All the best,

I just started Vanco on Wednesday. Already have an improvement. Don't feel like death and frequency and urgency are way down. I'm right there with you!

My daughter (UC) had C.diff last year. Couldn't tolerate Flagyl. After starting Vanco within 2 days everything got controlled.

Few things to follow if you can- Cut down all sugary stuff. Add plenty of good yogurt/probiotic if you can tolerate/or used to it..

C.diff can be very hard to eliminate for some. The best effective treatment so far proven is Fecal transplant. We did this for our daughter after the 1st round of Vanco as we want to avoid further vanco course in case if it pops up again.

Lots of info on the effectiveness of  fecal transplant  for C.diff on  you tube and medical journals. check it out...
