Hi all,

So after 4 years of this crap...it happened ...bad flare up.  First one that was accompanied with pain and cramps.  What is extra offensive is the fact that I have been doing the Rowasa enemas nightly for 2.5 years...yes, that is right...nightly and yes, 2.5years.  I also take 2 Lialda/day (I can't take anymore as I get adverse effects).never ever missed a dose. I also use VSL 3, slippery elm and metamucil.  For most of the 4 years (except beginning) I have done fairly well.  Never perfect but def reasonable..no blood, occasional mucus and 2-3 bm's day.  Admittedly if I missed one enema..the gas, rumbles etc.. started.  I also use occasional anucort hc supps and occasional cortifoam.  Ok, bear w/ me.

So after this bad flare...dr added cortenema to do one/day and continue Rowasa one/day.  Also was prescribed Bentyl.  Pls talk to me about your experiences with this. Flare is lower colon.  How does Bentyl help you?  Any side effects and how much mg do you take?  Also positive stories about Cortenema's and than reverting back to Rowasa?  Pls share...I know I can do a search, but I need my peeps here to weigh in.   Also should mention that I have tried Basalazide w/ no better effects than Lialda so went back.  OK, long post done.

Thanks,

B

I've been taking bentyl for several months and I can't see why. It doesn't seem to help at all.

Intersting Gary...although hoping it would be helpful. Are you using it for cramps or just to slow things down. I was hoping for some cramp relief. I hate this dd. Thanks for reading my whole story!
