I just use generic Preparation H, with the long applicator tip that's meant for internal use. Squeeze a little up there, and it helps reduce the hemorrhoid size and provides a bit of mild pain relief.
Unfortunately, hemorrhoids are more common with us, as we sit on the toilet repeatedly, for long periods of time, and strain.
Hemorrhoids and rectal inflammation can be confounding. Both cause blood and pains. Just the fun guessing game we play, which is it this time? You can try an over-the-counter hemorrhoid treatment for a few weeks to see if it helps relieve the troubles. You can get an inflammation test to see if it's UC flare related.
