Dear All, this may be the most embarrassing post here ever. How does one rid the Canasa suppository stains from pants? All my light colored pants are unusable. I've tried Wisk when washing them, but that hasn't helped.

Nonsense there is nothing too embarrassing to ask here. Unless you get it out right away, the stain has probably already set in and the pants are likely a lost cause, I've had to throw some out before too. I use the Rowasa enemas (also based on Meslamine) and sometimes they can come up unexpectedly, as well. Usually when I get some on my undergarments or pants I'll just rinse everything out with warm water and then throw the clothes in the washing machine ASAP and that is usually enough to catch it before the stain sets. In my experience, one the stain sets you are out of luck, unless somebody else knows of a good stain product that works... I haven't found any...

maybe a good time to start a couple home improvement projects :

painting

planting a garden

laying some sod

a few of those wearing the pants, you'll never notice those little canasa stains :-)

The closest I've come to getting mesalamine stains out of anything came from using Oxi Clean. WIth that said, I also bought a runner for my hallway to cover stains that I had let go too long from where I "spilled" mesalamine.

Meslamine stains terribly. I have some stains on my bathroom wall from it -- several dark brown finger print shaped stains near the tp roll haha. I put a coat of some good stain-blocking paint over it, then a coat of the normal colored paint. After a week the frigg'n meslamine came through both layers and is visible again. I think I am going to have to scrape through the layers of paint to remove the area where meslamine initially came into contact with the paint, fill in the resulting damage from my excavation with some drywall putty, and then paint over it all and hope for the best.

I don't think you can get it off to the point where it would be as if it was never there. Perhaps bleach would help but too much would probably ruin your pants. I have stained some underwear but luckily never ruined a pair of pants. lol - laughing at myself for admitting to ruining underwear.

ipoop called it right: it's pretty impossible to get mesalamine out of fabric once the stain has set. We learn these things the hard way! In my case it was a brand-new, snowy-white mattress protector that took a squirt of Rowasa and turned permanently orange before I realized what had happened. / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

You can try white vinegar. Look it up online...supposedly it works great on stains but I am not sure about those horrid mesa stains.

DId you soak in Shout? I find that stuff pretty good. Or try OxiClean but don't use bleach unless they are white pants.

Since it's been a few years since this conversation stream, curious if anyone found a good solution for getting Rowasa enema stains out of fabric. My husband is really good about having a dark colored towel under him in bed at night, but there is the occasional 'accident'. For us its white sheets. OxyClean is no go. Bleach barely touches it. I've put them thru the laundry in hot water, oxyclean, and bleach, presoaking each round, 3x today with little effect. Just bought some Shout and trying that for Round 4 in the washer. Anyone found something that works?

You are not alone...my mother buys bulk packs of underwear, especially after having to leave a soiled pair on the side of a highway many miles from home. It wasn't funny at the time, but years later my Dad still teases he's, gonna stop by and pick the dirty ones up!

My mom has never had success cleaning out her "drawers." And she's tried & she will not go to adult diapers. She's got microscopic colitis and has constant D. I've got UC, and have used the enemas...aĺso have stained through the mattress cover onto the mattress. Nice orange color....😲

I stained dining room chair upholstery 1 year ago from Canasa (mesalamine). After researching on how to remove petroleum jelly stains, etc. I used a little bit of Dawn with distilled water and kept rubbing the rag it into the stain and also the entire chair seat.

I used a clean rag and distilled water to remove the Dawn mixture. Did this at least 3 times to remove soap. It removed the stain from the upholstery. Note do not use tap water since chemicals/minerals will cause stain in upholstery.

Not sure if it will work on light colored pants.

I have stains on my sheets. Finally just bought new ones last summer but already stained one of those too. Oh well.
