First and foremost I want to say Thank You !
You probably don't remember but back in April I was sort of at a really low point. And I was looking up this french clay treatment called Smecta on this site and you suggested I check out LDN. That feels like so long ago and Ive leant so much since then!
Imran, I think my LDN exp might help you somewhat. I also live in UK.
I started LDN in May a month after InSoFla suggested I look into it. I got a little ill when I started. I was just about
OK before I had started LDN. I wasn't in a flare but I wasnt feeling great that time either. I started on the liquid from Dicksons Chemist at 1.5 ml. A few weeks later, I was having extremely bad D, my upper part of stomach was hurting ALOT (something that had never affected me before). I felt really ill. I dont know if I started LDN the moment I flared, or if LDN caused the flare, or if I had caught a virus of something. All I know is that I had belief that the LDN was a good drug so I carried on taking it. I lowered dose to 1mg, it helped a little bit but not much.
Anyway, I get my LDN prescript
ions from e-Med and they write for 3 months at a time so its difficult to change inbetween. At the end of the 3rd month I found out that Dicksons Chemist make the Transdermal Cream so I decided to try that out thinking maybe the liquid might have be upsetting my stomach. After 1 month on the cream I felt alot better. I increased to 2.5mg. The problem was my stomach was still hurting alot and somewhat still a little upset (but not as much). I didnt want to get my GI consultant involved with anything so I told my GP about
it and he gave me a PPI (Omeprazole) and Gaviscon. Said to try to see if that helps.
So a month later. I have been on 3mg dose for a week now. Been also taking the PPI. And honestly I feel GREAT! Im so happy, since I have been on 3mg I have been doing solid BM's, Ive come down to about
3to4 bms a day. My blood has completely stopped !!!! My stomach ache has got 80% better with the PPI and Gaviscon. I feel drained of energy but I thats prob coz ive become anemic with all that blood loss. But I really think the LDN is starting to help now. Its weird because I was on 2.8mg for a while but I didnt feel anything. But as soon as I brought it upto 3mg I felt so much better. Docs only wrote enough for 3mg cream so Im waiting till my 3 month prescript
ion is finished before I can ask him to write 4.5mg. Infact I actually found this forum because I was just checking for Sublingual LDN because I found out Dicksons also do those also. Im in two minds over whether I should try the sublingual next prescript
ion or carry on with cream. But then again I dont want to be stuck with it for 3 months if it doesnt suit me :S.
I emailed Dickson's quite a few times when I was enquiring about
the cream. I just wanted to make sure I was doing everything properly.
Heres some info from their emails you might find useful:
1)The Transdermal LDN is mixed with Aqueous Cream. Dicksons don't use emu oil.
2) The liquid form LDN contains: "Naltrexone, water, glycerol. and in very small quantities it contains: sodium benzoate, saccharin sodium, ethanol, simeticone and hypromellose"
3) Dickons told me the tub of LDN cream should be refridgerated :S
4) The cream is compounded at 0.5mg/1ml . Thats 0.5mg LDN to 1ml cream. So if say you needed 3mg LDN, you would need to apply 6ml of cream. Thats ALOT of cream to apply if you need >3mg.
@Insofla, I need to apply 6ml of cream a night. That pretty much takes whole BOTH inner arms from wrist to elbow and the back of arms too. And i still have excess cream left over. When I move up to 4.5mg im going to have much more cream aswell. So apart from inner arms and hands is there any other place I can also apply it? What other places are good?
Imran, stick with it bro! You just need to find the right form for you and the right dosage. And thanks InSoFla for telling me about
