I had my first Remicade infusion on 5/31/2013. My second loading dose is scheduled for this Friday. Imagine my suprise when I logged into Aetna's claim tracker and saw that the claim for the infusion I had nearly two weeks ago was DENIED due to a lack of precertification. Oh and the bloodwork too because apparently the hospital should have sent my blood to a third party lab (Quest Diagnostics).
I called Aetna this afternoon and explained as politely as I could that the infusion procedure was indeed precertified and I gave them the reference number off of my precertification letter that I got in the mail THREE WEEKS AGO. The customer service rep told me she would send the claim back to be looked at again.
So... physically I am feeling pretty good right now, but I do not want to go back for a second loading dose this week until this gets sorted out and my last infusion passes through the claims process and it is all sorted out. The prenegotiated costs for each infusion is $10K! I don't want to be on the hook for that!!!
Considering I am without symptoms (thanks first loading dose of Remicade) do you all think it matters at all if the second loading dose is done a week late?
