When do they kick in? My son is so tired and I am hoping that the steroids will give him a boost of energy and appetite soon. He is on the SCD diet and is losing weight and not having much of an appetite. I am worried. Also, the gi dr did not mention anything about
bloodwork for him to follow along with the steroids. Is this normal not to check his blood?

It took me 2-3 weeks for them to kick in. Depends on the dosage and the person of course.
Why not ask the GI? It's surely nice to have it checked for iron and inflammation.

I took to them immediately - within hours of my first dose. I started at 40mg.

They start helping me immediately as well. No one told me when I first started taking them that I might flare up again when I started to reduce them and I had thought I was "cured" after taking them a little while. Oh, how things changed when I started to come down off of them.
I lost a lot of weight when I tried SCD as well. I gave it up because of it, and since I started feeling better with my other regime I have not gone back to it yet.
And, no, I do not believe they usually check your blood before giving you steroids.
