well, I just got released today!! I am so happy. bloodwork is a little better and im on 45 mg pred and started Imuran today. my gut feels pretty swishy- that's the only word I can think of to describe it. kind of like the ocean. no blood though and my inflammation markers are all normal again. that was a close call!
ncot, no worries. I guess I just try to be positive about any situation and happy that there is an alternative to dying from that dreaded colon. obviously, NOBODY wants the bag but if it can save my life, then I will gladly take it and be thankful for it. i'm sure it would take a lot of getting used to and if these meds don't work, i'm not going to hesitate to just say goodbye to it. I hope you can love your new body someday, too. it's an amazing thing to be alive even if it's not how we planned for things to happen. I really thought I was going to die that night because the pain was so bad but luckily I was saved.
I spoke with one of the nurses who deals with the ostomy patients who were wounded in car accidents, with guns/weapons, fights and other things besides the digestive diseases. I didn't really think of all the people who have the bags that didn't ask for it either, you know?
