I didn't even ask my GI when I started FT.
In the beginning of all this, I asked my GI if diet or alternatives could help and she said; "Diet has nothing to do with it, don't you think I would tell you if diet would make you better?" I realized she was only good for prescription medicine. Alternative methods and ideas were off the table. She's a nice lady, but her training is in meds not cures.
Adventureuc, the diet thing really struck a nerve with me. We're only two weeks into this, but much prior experience w/ other ills & there is no doubt - your GI is not a true physician - she's a pseudo-chemist, and maybe a one-woman-prescript
ion-mill. Any MD who considers diet an "alternative" really does have a couple of cards missing.
Hope you can find a new doc - they are out there!

*** I (Mom) am one of four siblings. None of us have UC or even IBS, nothing gut-related. No family history. My son and 2 first cousins now have UC or Crohn's. All late teens. Thousands of miles apart!
