Interesting to know that you're already taking Flexeril, SG. The rheumatologist said it wouldn't work for the inflammation. He thought that a low dose at night would help relax the muscles around my neck and let me sleep (and perhaps start to heal some of the damage to my neck).
If the Excedrin works, I'd monitor my bowel symptoms and try that. The "homemade" version (two aspirins, two Tylenol, a cup of coffee) is my go-to painkiller, and it hasn't had a negative effect on my UC. Plain old aspirin works very well at the spinal pain. I'm glad that the GI and rheumatologist understand that I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.
Apparently, Celebrex isn't any more effective than Tylenol -- and if the research/marketing is to be believed, not any more dangerous to the colon or heart. Still, I have avoided it. Too bad, since the absence of COX-1 should make a lot of sense for IBD folks.
