Limitless - welcome to the forum, my friend.
Let's see here. *rolls up sleeves*
It will be a little difficult to list all of the things that your doctor did incorrectly, but I'll give it a fair shot. After reading through your case, my humble suggestion is to find a new GI - perhaps one with a more
open-minded approach to treatments, and one that looks more closely at the anti-bacterial component to your oil treatments, since these oils have efficacy in eliminating infectious organisms in the gut.
I can't say I'm an expert in the field, but there is one particular person on this forum who is and can help you out in this endeavor. Her name is PathogenKiller and she has helped many here, including me.
I say this because there's an increasing body of research indicating that our microbial composition, or lack thereof contribute to autoimmune diseases. Pathogens, fungi, yeasts play a role in modulating the immune response and the oils you took seem to have helped this. I can't help but think that this component needs to be explored a bit further.
Without further ado, I'll list the wrongdoings of your doctor:
1) She put you on another
8 week course of uceris when the first course failed. This is not only negligent behavior, but every consecutive course of steroids weakens the integrity of your immune system and puts you at high risk for osteoporosis, type-2 diabetes, adrenal insufficiency, cataracts, metabolic disorder, etc, etc.
2) Your case is mild as you stated, and she wants to put you on cimzia, a heavy duty biologic with a high adverse effect profile? No rectal medications, no probiotics, and no elimination diets. Is she a buffoon? Seems to me that she's your standard 5-minute mainstream GI who has no real purpose other than prescribing low-efficacy drugs.
3) The supplements and oil treatments are clearly helping you, as you've reached near remission status. Please list these supplements so we can offer further guidance. There is a reason that these oils are helping you out, so I encourage further research on your part. Many of the oils you listed are anti-bacterials and anti-virals. Also, dietary modifications go a long way in managing and treating disease. Many have found success with paleo diets and resistant starches.
4) Doctors, particularly stupid ones, love using scare tactics to get patients to submit to their will. she's scaring you with colon cancer when studies show no higher incidence of colon cancer in UC patients than in the normal population. Also, colon perforation? Really? I've never heard of colon perforation in a mild case of UC such as yours.
5) Your doctor is out of line by not believing in you. They are trained to treat the symptoms as the root cause of any disease. It makes sense that they didn't believe you about
your oils. This is why I suggest working with a new doctor, particularly an integrative care practitioner who looks at all aspects of disease.
I encourage you to search for these terms using the search box on top, as they have helped many here: spinach and sunflower seeds, resistant starches, oregano oil, paleo diet.
