I battle constipation more than I deal with loose / bloody stools. Does anyone know if it would benefit me to add some Metamucil or something alike to help keep things moving?

Prunes or prune juice might be an option if you like either. :)

I use the capsules because I don't like to drink it after a meal. It's personal choice....I started with the powder and the capsules are convenient when I eat out.

Trial and error...start somewhere, but don't start with a large amount.

I suggest at one meal for a few days and then add to another meal. Eventually up the dosage per meal, etc.

Magnesium citrate would do a better job. Since you have constipation, and you probably don't know the reason of it, apart from UC, psyllium 'could' aggravate the situation. Plus, you got to sip enough water (not drink a glassful at a time, else it will be excreted via urination), so that psyllium get most of excreted water and it get enough chance to bulk up wet.

Mg-citrate pulls water in the intestine and thus relieves constipation. Starting dose should be 200mg and then slowly ramp it up. If you have any cardiac issues or are on any such medications, consult your PCP.
