Is anyone else struck by the similarity of the writing style of several members of this thread, all of whom have less that 10 or 20 posts?

Doesn't surprise me. There are wackos out there that have nothing better to do with their time than to get a good laugh out of talking chronic and desperate sick people into drinking their own pee.

A lot of people go for the 'absurd' or 'bizarre' it seems. I cannot believe this thread still gets action I just had to take a peak. Meanwhile ordinary things like chia/sulfasalazine/pseed/msm are ordinary and boring.

maybe they hope to sell us some fresh and eco home made urine lol. In Poland there are sometimes adverts on the Internet that pregnant women are selling their urine or their pregnancy tests. I didn't know who the potential buyers could be but recently the mystery has been resolved. It has turned out that many women are buying such "pregnant" urine to make fake pregnancy tests in order to blackmail their lovers and get money for abortion

Just when I think I've tried them all......wowzers. I'd also like an update on the success of this one.

I'm pretty disappointed in the mockery of this post.

thanks iPoop for shedding some light. Here are some related links:

There is IgA in the urine:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1408118/

Some info about IgA deficiency:
http://primaryimmune.org/about-primary-immunodeficiencies/specific-disease-types/selective-iga-deficiency/

There is no research on urine therapy, but I know that it has been around for thousands of ears and there is plenty of anecdotal stuff on it.

Ironically I had a friend who happens to be a student of natural medicine suggest it as a possibility. I really thought it was whacky when I heard it, but in fairness I plan on delving in and learning about it. Sorry for the responses, but it IS one of those things that feels like an automatic repulsion for most folks.

Are you implying that drinking urine can improve an IgA deficiency??

OMG, I can't believe this discussion has been revived. I can only hope this has helped anyone who actually tried it.

This is absolute rubbish and based on no scientific evidence or basis - there is no DNA in your urine due to the extremely low concentration of uncleared cells in your urine - and not only this but that is not how DNA repair occurs at all. Secondly, it has not been proven to work in cancer and the other conditions listed, all of the information is purely anecdotal and perpetuated by people such as yourself without reference. The only way in which it could possibly work is if you are re-consuming medications that have been incompletely metabolized, but then you are also re-consuming those with harmful metabolites, hence why they were excreted in the first place. I don't know how this 'urine therapy' idea took hold, I'm assuming by people with very little scientific acumen and a misguided and simplified belief that "natural=good" but it's actually quite harmful and cruel to sell this bs story to people who are ill and desperate to try anything that works.

After doing a little reading about this practice it actually sounds really dangerous. The Chinese Association of Urine Therapy warns:

"Common symptoms include diarrhea, itch, pain, fatigue, soreness of the shoulder, fever, etc. These symptoms appear more frequently in patients suffering long term or more serious illnesses, and symptoms may repeat several times. Each episode may last 3-7 days, but sometimes it may last one month, or even worse over 6 months."

I guess I'll skip it.

The thread is essentially about a traditional, Indian Ayurveda medicine treatment. Like traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda goes back thousands of years and has some (let us say interesting *bleh* *barf*) treatments. Something about the body itself containing everything it needs to heal itself of all ailments, or something.

@anamika, I started doing UT 5 days ago after going through this thread. (3-5 glasses a day), but I don't see major difference.
Are you still in remission due to this therapy? Do you have to take any medication?

I would not recommend drinking pee, that's not going to help you. Please see your gasteroenteroligist and get on some ulcerative colitis medications.
